No where in the writings of Nichiren Daishonin is confidence [as in self confidence] mentioned. On the other hand, SGI and all New Age teachings stress confidence ["self confidence"]. Nichiren stresses faith which he discusses more than five hundred times. True confidence is faith in the Law, the Buddha, the True Votary of the Lotus Sutra, universal Buddha-nature, and the eternal nature of our lives.
